I’m someone who thinks brushes can make or break a makeup look. A good brush can give you a flawless natural looking skin. I’m always on a lookout for good brushes, especially face brushes. There is a huge rave around Real Techniques Brushes and so I was searching for these brushes in India for a long time. I saw it on amazone.com and instantly ordered the face brush set.
These brushes are the best brushes I have used so far!!
The face brush set has four different brushes:
Contour Brush (for contouring, highlighting and blush)
Buffing Brush (multi tasker)
Pointed Foundation brush
The 4 brushes come in a nice black casing which is great for travel! It doubles up as a stand as well!
If you’ve never heard of these before, these are created by Samantha Chapman who is one of the Pixiwoo sisters duo who are makeup artists and run an amazing Youtube Channel (Pixiwoo).
Real Techniques says–
– Detailer Brush : Precision cut to effortlessly conceal problem areas; or, use with lipstick for long-lasting shape and definition
– Pointed Foundation Brush : Use with liquid foundation to build custom coverage
– Buffing Brush : Ideal for full coverage application of powder and mineral foundation
– Contour Brush : Delicately applies highlighter to contour or create sheer, soft-focus finish
– Panoramic Case : Dual carrier and stand keeps brushes organized on your counter or on the go
If you want your make-up to look flawless, natural and well blended, I think it’s something that you should all invest in!
Buffing Brush works amazing with foundation application both liquid and powder. Its gives a nice airbrush effect. The bristles are soft and dense. It doesn’t ‘drink up’ the foundation like brushes do at times. A must have brush for all!!
Contour Brush is another amazing brush in this set. It works really well for powders, especially under eye setting powder. It also works well for contouring and blushes. It works great with both cream and powder products. Another must have!
Pointed Foundation Brush is good when you have to work in small areas. I don’t use this brush as much as I use the Buffing and Contour brush. It works really well for concealer.
Detailer Brush is a nice small brush for spot concealing and lipsticks. I haven’t used it a lot.
Since I’m already in love with the face brushes, I will order the eye brush set also shortly.
A very good investment for all make-up freaks like me!!
Diwali, the festival of light is my favorite festival. I love everything about Diwali. The festivities at my home starts from Karvachauth and lasts till bhai dhoj.
For every festival, I try and wear Indian traditional outfits. This time I wore a new Silk saree, a traditional Coimbatore silk. I bought this saree from Coimbatore a few months back and did not really get a chance to wear it. I lovely combination of my favorite colors Blue and Gold.
Coimbatore is known for its amazing textiles, especially for cotton and silk sarees.
These sarees are hand-woven and every saree takes a few months to complete. Generally these are combination of colored silk threads and zari (gold thread).
These threads are woven together to create intricate designs and patterns.
I paired it with Kundan earrings and a simple gold chain.
Today, at work, we celebrated Diwali; or rather a pre Diwali celebration. There was dancing, singing and a lot of sweets. Generally during these celebration, we are asked to wear our ethnic best. Generally I do not wear a saree, but this time I decided to wear one. Also, there was a lot of push from my friends at work.
I decided to wear a simple yet very elegant saree with Mukesh Kamdani work. The Mukesh or Kamdani or Badla work is similar type of embroidery work. It is thin silver/golden wire embroidery. This embroidery is done mainly around Lucknow and is very commonly seen in the Lucknowi Chikankari embroidery. Both these types of embroidery when done together looks amazing.
Mukesh / Badla / Kamdani work are tiny disks/ TIKKI of silver or gold pieces that artists hand-sew meticulously throughout a garment to create an all-over shine and glitter effect. Artisans start the Mukesh / Badla / Kamdani process by flattening the metal threads used in zari work into the signature disk shape. Then, they space these metallic circles evenly throughout a garment, a technique that creates a soft shimmer that some people say looks like the luster of stars in a night sky.
Mukesh Kamdani is done by hand and it takes months to make one saree. I got this saree as a part of my wedding trousseau. My mom got this saree custom made for me from Lucknow. She knows how much I love traditional stuff!!
Since I was going to be at work, I decided to keep jewellery minimal. I wore my diamond pendent with silver earrings.
I kept the makeup also minimal, just a black winged eyeliner with MAC Twig lipstick with a little bit of NYX True Red lip gloss.
In this busy world, there are days when you just don’t have time to do an elaborate face or want something away from the regular.
These days there are eyeshadow and lipstick stickers available in the market.
Every time you purchase an eyeshadow sticker, there are a few steps that you must follow-
Use an oil-free makeup wipe to clean your eyelid and ensure that you pat it dry.
The eye sticker comes on a sheet so you can just peel it off from there.
The eye sticker is made of a standard size so it does not fit everyone. Just hold it up aligned with your eyebrow to see if it needs any trimming. Make the necessary cuts and recheck to be sure.
Peel off the adhesive and apply it as closely as possible to your lash line. Ensure that you don’t get any in your eye. Now press the sticker firmly to the adhesive to make it stick.
Usually they promise that the sticker can stay intact for about 16 hours to get you through your parties or anything else.
Applying eye stickers is really simple. Once you are done using them for the day, just peel it off. Use a cleanser to get rid of residue if any. With such a simple process, who would really bother with all the liquid eyeliner and eye shadows..
Eye shadow stickers come in a variety of designs so that women with different needs can make use of them. They also make your eyes look bigger
