This book is by a debut by Iranian sociologist and psychologist Parinoush Saniee. This best seller was banned twice in her homeland Iran. This is a journey of a very ambitious Iranian girl from childhood to adulthood. Journey of a girl whose fate was determined by family and politics.
The narrative is simple and real. It makes you feel that you are with the author and it brings a smile when she is happy and want to cry with her sadness.
This is a book that any girl from a conservative family can relate to even today. It makes you feel that a small girl can lose her childhood and innocence because of unfairness of the society, it could be because of their brothers, fathers or even mothers at times.
The story starts when Massoumeh, a young girl moves with her family to Tehran from Qum. They move with their cultural baggage which they do not want to throw away even in a new city. Massoumeh tries really hard to get her basic education. She makes a friend, her only friend Parvaneh. Massoumeh falls in love but had to go through hardships when her family discovers it.
She is married against her wishes to Hamid who is a communist. I was surprised with how she accepts her situation, takes control of herself and her family. She sacrifices herself for her children.
The book is about a very strong woman who is a combination of strength, moral values and sacrifices.
Personally, I felt that I can achieve anything in this world. It just made me much more confident and has given me some kind of a strength to be able to take any challenges.
I must confess, I’m really late in doing this review. I bought the lipstick the day the collection was launched and I have been using this since then, but still did not get to do a full review of the product.
To be honest, I bought this for the packaging. The packaging is to die for!! I have never seen any cosmetic brand come out with such stunning packaging.
The color definitely is not a summer color, it’s more like a fall kind of color. The formula is the regular MAC cremesheens. Obviously, the staying power is around 3 to 4 hours without eating. However, it’s really moisturizing.
It’s not really highly pigmented, which I really like as you can build on the desired shade in two to three applications. The color is dark mauve with blue undertone, which is good. Generally most of the mauve lipsticks have a red undertone.
The price is 1350 INR which is definitely more than the regular MAC lipsticks, but sometime I don’t minds splurging.
Overall, a good buy. Love the color (my first ever mauve) and the packaging is lovely!
I’m on a vacation with my parents. As soon as I entered the washroom I noticed a product that I was not familiar with and that was Forever Aloe Scrub with Microspheres of Jojoba. I had to try the product. Here are my thoughts on the product.
“More than skin deep”, is Forever Aloe Scrub®. With its unique combination of Stabilized Aloe Vera gel and solid micro-spheres made from pure Jojoba Oil, this effective skin cleanser is gentle enough for everyday use and strong enough to clear away the debris that accumulates in the delicate pores of the skin. In combination, these two natural ingredients will clear the way for the skin’s own unique renewal process, while helping to protect it from the drying and damaging effects of synthetic cleansers.
Forever Aloe Scrub gently scrubs away dead skin cells and debris that clog pores and dull the skin’s appearance, to begin revealing radiant “new”, healthier skin.
The packaging is a plain white tube, something that I like in my skin care.
The scrub has a light blue tint and has good consistency that doesn’t run along your hand. Small amount goes a long way. The scrub is very gentle. I’m not a big fan of scrubs that are beady. I feel that they are really hash on the skin and can harm the skin.
Once you apply the scrub spreads really well. I applied it all over my face in circular motion. I kept it on my face for a few more minutes. When I washed it off, my skin felt really soft, hydrated and my skin had an amazing flow.
I was not really happy with the scent of the product, but this is something I can compromise if the performance of the product is good.
Overall I’m happy with the product.
